I am looking to move to the Blackberry 7520 but don't need the full blackberry package. Does anyone know if you can have a blackberry through nextel without the $45/month blackberry service. i would be happy with just being able to access mobile email and AIM. Any help would be great.

thanks,
Matt

Without the blackberry package it is only a phone.

Like stonent said, you get phone only without the bb package--no data of any kind (wap, email, text, etc). Nextel will not sell a bb without the bb data plan either.

If you have any sort of total connect plan you can check email w/ any reqwireless's options as well as web surf thru NOL(text only) or images w/ webviewer. I have no BB package never had on 7510 dont have it for my 7520, my primary email accounts are internet based so it works like a charm for me, but this setup is not for everybody. I am quite pleased w/ it tho gave up my i860 to go back to the bb just for pure web surfing capability.

Hmm, that's interesting.

What does it cost you per month? Are you checking POP mail or using something like hotmail via the browser?

exactly my primary email is hotmail so this works fantastic for me cause I can check text thru msn and images thru hotviewer, you would cry if I told you how much I am paying lol, perks of being a dealer

Mine was free, I pay nothing, plus I get free upgrades whenever a new one comes out.

Can you beat that?

Ok, to clarify. Mine is paid for by my company. And whenever a new phone comes out , I keep it for myself and issue who ever ordered it my old phone.

But hey I deserve it! I can also fix broken screens and save them from buying phones. These cheap little 7230t's that were handed out like tic-tacs make good parts doners. As long as the screens are the same size, they interchange among models and carriers.

Yeah I can, mine is company paid also, haven't paid for phone in 3 yrs and I get 1000 cell unlimted dc, full service data package, and packetstream gold for $19.99 , but like you, I deserve it lol! I think ps gold normally tho is $54.99/mo and total connect plans start @<hidden> $12.99 and go up from there w/ megs for anyone else that is curious

you guys have been very helpful, but just to clarify one thing, if I get a total connect package with my voice package does it give me access to wap. I am looking to use AIM and possible mobile email although I could do with out the mobile email and use either phonefish or req. wireless. I mainly want to combine my PDA and phone, and be able to occationaly check my email.

for wap you need NOL, for images, 3rd party apps, etc. you would need some form of total connect, pm me if you have any questions

I was told by my nextel rep that I had to get a data package of at least $35 or my new 7520 would just be a phone.

That would be correct. You need the data plan to use email, internet, instant messenger and so on
