No ring while charging

My BB doesn't ring while it is plugged in charging. Is this the norm? My husband said it goes straight to voice mail. Can I change settings somewhere to make it ring while it's charging? :oops:

Turns out my phone had issues. Calls were going straight to voice mail 98 percent of the time. Now have my replacement and all is well; even the ring tone is louder!
