Ive been reading through the posts and see many say the latest firmware should have fixed the quality issues...but in mine it did not...the phone is terrible.. poor sound quality...poor reception. At times I get a buzzing sound that sounds like morse code... often buzzes like that when it rings too.

Im on firmware

any suggestions (short of crushing this thing and buying a Treo)

I seem to recall posts here that suggested phone worked better after downgrading back to earlier OS version -- but I may be thinking of posts relating to other devices than 7100g. Mine is not so bad that it would be worth the time/hassle to downgrade even if it did make a difference.

In light of your problems, if you haven't already, do some searches to see if the posts I am recalling did deal with downgrading OS on 7100g, and see what those users had to say.

Otherwise, not much we can do but be patient and hope that RIM will improve phone quality when OS 4.1 for 7100g comes out (seems to be better based on posts regarding 4.1 devices, like 8700c and, I believe, 7105t and 7100i).

I haven't personaly had those problems yet, other than the call volume being lower than my liking; but I just put it on speakerphone and hold that side to my ear if I absolutely need to because i'm in a loud environment.

Though as far as the latest version; I (as the person above me) also recall it being a downgrade to Pre 4.0, not an upgrade to the latest version if you wanted to fix the phone quality issues.

i hope they do something soon and release 4.1 that fixes this piece of junk... the email is great, but if I have to use it as a phone, it is terrible... plus the whole buzzing thing drives me nuts. Im close to tossing this thing in the river!
