I just got a used 8800. Everything works very well on the phone and it's in decent physical condition but I realized that the person who calls me hears an echo on their end. This happens every time with everyone, be it landline or cellphone. I do not hear any sort of echo on my end (8800). Is there anything that can be done to correct this problem? Has anyone experienced this sort of issue?

Are you using a headset ( cabled or Bluetooth) when you are on calls?

No headset, just the handset.

Sounds like it may be in the microphone hardware, but I'll defer to anyone who has a different suggestion...

What's the OS build

Look at Options - About?

Have you tried using a wired or wireless handsfree ear piece to see if it's still a problem.

Strange... no echo when I use a bluetooth, but as soon as I hit "activate handset" I was told there was a "little echo". How is my phone affecting what the other person hears but not me? They don't hear ME echo, they hear themselves echo...

It sounds like your handset speaker is somehow feeding back into your handset mic. Does it do the same thing if you activate the speaker phone? Either way it really sounds like a hardware issue but I would try doing an OS reinstall or upgrade to see if it resolved the issue before heading to the repair shop.

would you happen to have a case on your headset? I have an 8350i and when I had the otter box case on it the person on the other end always complained of the same thing. I know we have different phones but it's just a thought. Good luck.

Do they hear the echo while you are on BT? Echo is normally associated with the network.
