View Full Version : Issue with a name change in Groupwise for a BES user

Hi all,

Have an issue where after a name change of the object ID for a Groupwise BES user, he is now unable to send and receive email messages.

(1) BES version = 4.1.6 MR5
(2) Groupwise Client 7.03HP2 #5041501 23 Jan 2009
(3) GroupWise post office 7.0.1 Interim Release 1

What can I do? Thanks in advance!

If the name change for the object ID also changed the email address then you will need to treat them as a new user and add them to the BES. Once added you can remove the old email address account from the BES. When I did this I did not have to wipe the handheld, however, you do have to watch for duplicate entries in the calendar and address book. Make sure there is a good backup through BlackBerry Desktop Manager before starting. It sure saved me.

If you have a TSupport subscription, call them and ask for the groupwise Update ID tool. It'll allow you to change the username and not have to reactivate. Look at KB10325.
