My company just got BB 8900 from T-mobile. Some of our users will have tethering capabilities, but we don't want to install the Desktop Manager on their pc's. Is there a way to get just the BB Connection Manager only?

What your objection to the DT manager? It will make your life easy if the users can do things like sync and update.

It's unnecessary for that user's needs. They're asking about tethering, not syncing.

ok so how do they load it without DTM ? I'm not aware of a OTA download.

Huh?
Nothing gets installed on the device. The connection manager gets installed on the PC.

Can you get the connection manager w/out the DTM?

As far as I know, yes.
We do this all the time with Verizon. The user's laptop only gets VZAccess Manager... not BlackBerry Desktop.

Ok , when i needed to tethering i had to load the modem on my BB because it did not have it. My ATT os did not have it standard. So I guess if they have it then they do indeed not need the DTM

I think you're a bit confused. This makes absolutely no sense at all.

Ok Sorry, my BB was not reconized as a modem on my PC. I had to load it via DTM
When BlackBerry Desktop Software is installed, the drivers that enable the BlackBerry smartphone to communicate through the USB port and virtual communications (COM) port are installed. The Standard Modem, which is used by dial-up networking, is also installed.

This is what we are doing, but with T-Mobile and do not want to load the DTM. I don't think that T-mobile has an access manager.

That's correct, Tmobile does not have an access manager. I don't tether myself, but maybe you could look into: Tether BlackBerry | BlackBerry Modem | TetherBerry (http://www.tetherberry.com/)
