web site shortcut not putting icon on the home page

In setting up my phone I was downloading different web sites CNN, Google Maps, etc... and all put their shortcut icons on my front phone display. However, that stopped working and now the sites I have downloaded that do have shortcut icons (NYT, Google calendar,etc..) are now NOT appearing on the front phone display. Can you help me?

Which theme are you using? What's appearing in place of those icons?

Also have you tried a battery pull (with the device powered on)?

Do you see them grayed out?
