Is there no way to enable auto-keylock on 7100 series specifically 7130 WITHOUT a password? It's very annoying to have to type in a password coming out of keylock, and very annoying not to have keylock if you aren't using the holster. how can a third party developer not have written a small $10 utility to deal with this?? is there anything we can do??

Thanks!

nick.

Nothing you can do at the moment; other than write it yourself, hire a programmer to do it for you, or get in the habit of manualy locking the device.

Using the password function can seem like a chore at first, but you quickly get used to it and it becomes second nature. Give it a try for a week, put up with the irritation factor for a ew days and you'll be better off.

Imagine leaving your berry somewhere and someone comes along and picks it up. Frankly, no matter what you use your berry for, there has got to be soething that you really don't want others reading.

Give it a try. ;)

i have a hard time believing no one has addressed this. i keep hearing rumors of other keylocks like on pocketday. does anyone know anything about this? would anyone be willing to code this? it would surely sell and rim seems asleep about releasing an update...

Not trying to slam you, but no one seems to have asked for this before... So I guess the demand isn't really there. In spite of RIM being asleep on this one...

A keylock was acceptable when I had a cell phone only...

However, I wouldn't go without a password protection now. Too much of my life is in this device....I can't take the chance with my security.

Go into your security settings and where it says "password" change to disable... pink

This won't cause the keyboard to lock automatically though.

I use the "lock when in holster" option. I do wish this feature (lock automatically without password) was built in. It was present with the Treo 650 and I got used to it. I like to carry my phone, bare, in my front pocket. I've set the center conveience key on my 8700c to lock the keys but often times I forget to press is (to used to the Treo still.)

I suppose it works if you've never established a password on your device lock...but this still isn't a "key lock" its a device lock....

I do the same thing as you, it auto locks when put in my holster, and all I have done is diable password, and yes a password is set up on the device. And to test it I turned password on and what do ya know... It asked for one! So give it a shot man. pink

Oh yeah, the lock on inserting in holster works without a password but the device won't auto-lock without one outside of the holster. That's the issue.
