transfer apps to new BB device?

How do I transfer apps to a new BB device? will using the wizard on the desktop mngr transfer apps as well? I saw the FAQ article on how to backup apps using destop mngr, and before I do anything (for someone else's new device) want to make sure I'm doing it right, and can't recall how I've done it in the past.

I do believe that device switch wizard transfer apps, theres a box you can check for which items to transfer I believe.
