Bold 9000 or Curve 8900

Am planning on getting a blackberry but cannot decide between the BOLD 9000 or Curve 8900. They seem to be like for like, except that the BOLD has a smaller camera and is a larger phone.
Can you give me your thoughts to help me decide?:smile:

Bold has 3g, Curve dosen't.
Bold has more space for media.
Bold is a much prettier phone.
Get the Bold.

I know many people who choose the curve for the fact that it's smaller and they feel that it is prettier. And some people choose the bold.

For me, edge ain't that bad either. I can live without 3g. Other's can't. The 8900 has a nicer camera as well. It depends on what features matter most to you.

I would choose the 8900 personally.

If the speed is the main thing that matters for you, I'd go for the bold. The Curve is so much more appealing to me.

The thing that puts me off the Bold is the battery life. I wonder if its anybetter in the Bold 9700.
Not sure if speed is important. I want to be able to use the messenger, send photos, make calls, e mail and occasionally check the internet. Do i need 3g for all that?

I just traded in my 8900 for the Bold 9700. Before that I had a Pearl Flip, and an 8100.

Battery life on the 9700 is great, lasts me a couple of days. The 8900 would last 2 days tops...I use it often for web searches, maps, etcetera, and I leave Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on. I also talk a lot. The 9700 can make it almost 3 days, depending on my activity level, but 2 solid, with no recharge.

The 8900 has a better keyboard than the 9700, but the 9700 is better in almost all other respects (speed, build quality, voice quality).

The 8900 is no slouch, I really liked it, but if you can spring for the 9700 it's worth the extra $$.

As a girl, it's not appealing to me. The 8900 has a sleeker look. But then again I'm really into my 8520 which seems small, but nice.

Most magazines oddly picked the 8900 curve over the 9000 Bold for an all around better device. The first versions of the 9000 OS were not that great. The 3G on the Bold ATE or eats batteries, it has a simpler (worse) camera, LESS RAM than the 8900, a lower resolution screen BUT it does have 3G (it gets it higher model # from the 3g even though it lacked in other areas compared to the 8900)

The 8900 curve is smaller and fits easily in your pocket, has a VERY good auto focus camera, FULL 256 meg OS RAM!, a higher res screen. It feels faster because it has more RAM than the bold 9000. The 8900 is a very consistent solid performer ( why most bloggers and mags pick it) BUT it only has EDGE speed (and wifi if you are near an access point). I think it's a better device IF and only if you don't need 3G.

NOW, the "bold" 9700? has everything the 8900 has plus 3G (and has excellent battery life), trackpad, faster processor, and newer OS (the OS really doesn't change much really)

The phone really is part of the Curve line. They went with bold out of marketing or something. The form factor IS the Curve 8900. The 9700 is an improved 8900.

But if you HAVE to choose 8900 or 9000? Do you really need 3G? If you don't? Go with the 8900.

Oddly, AT&T passed on the 8900 when it came out 'cause they thought the 9000 would be so superior (they were wrong and RIM gave it less RAM..odd choice for the 'better' 9000). T-mobile took the 8900 and it was such a hit with reviewers who said it overall outperformed the Bold 9000 (for road warriors who couldn't always access 3G in most cities anyway) that AT&T asked RIM to carry the device afterall;) I really think the Bold's battery useage was killing the bold....It also doesn't fit as easily in your front pants pocket 'cause the bold 9000 is a bit larger.

I had to make this exact choice and went with the 8900. Definitely not regretting it! Specs-wise, the 8900 was better in most important categories to me. Also, I use more wi-fi than EDGE/3G so that difference doesn't really matter to me.

That's a matter of opinion. Some people like SureType. Personally, I liked the 7520 keyboard.

I hate the 9000 keyboard. I was playing with one in store, as well as the 9700, it feels just ...not right for me.. I love my clickety clackety 8520 keys.
