View Full Version : 7100t T-Mobile Version 4.1 download?

stat
12-09-2005, 09:29 AM
I noticed that as of 12-6-05, Version 4.1 is available for download and the corresponding 4.1 user manual is available on the Blackberry site.

T-Mobile's download site continues to show 4.0.49 as the latest download available.

Has anyone downloaded 4.1 to their 7100t? If so, were there any problems?

Thx

Where exactly did you see it on the BlackBerry site? I am might be willing to give it a go.

Are you sure that it is not 4.1 for Desktop Manager?

stat

After checking again, Version 4.1 is for the Desktop Manager. I saw that the 7100t had a new user's manual for 4.1 and mistakenly thought that it was for the handheld.

Wishful thinking and still hoping for access to 128 bit encrypted sites, ie, bank sites. Sorry for the confusion.

The download from TMobile handheld is schedule for the first part of next year. You will most likely see Cingular release theirs first as they usually dont test the beta release to much. At least TMobile does one thing is test handheld software. Now dont get me started again on BIS.......very painful upgrade for the website

You can download through the Hong Kong carrier's site, delete one small file on your computer, and install 4.1. It works fine, though I'm finding its a little slower/less responsive on a 7100t than 4.0 was.

Does anyone have any screen shots of the new OS appearance and the themes that are on it? I HATE the Tmobile Icon theme that came on the 7100t.

Are you talking about downloading themes from Blackberry or themes that you create in a 3rd party app?

Thanks Michbb for the reply. I am aware of the themes you can create and have seen that post (actually created a few myself). I guess my question was a little vague. I was just wondering it the themes that come with Handheld Version 4.1 were any different than the List and Tmobile Theme preloaded on the 7100t with 4.0. Just curious to see if the update that hidious Tmobile Theme with the blue background and bad icons.

I just finished installing OS 4.1 (4.1.256) from the Hong Kong Carrier, and it works great, although a little slow sometimes. I do have a question though, how can i get rid of the enterprise activation icon from the main menu since I do not use enterprise email.

Any help would be great.

Thank you.

Upgraded my 7105t to 4.1.256 and I'm loving the new features! Haven't tried the Bluetooth sync yet, but the better j2ee (jar) compatibilty and upgraded browser have me sold!

One big issue though. Sporadically my "recent calls" list and more importantly all SMS's in "Messages" are deleted. After wading through everything in Settings the only thing I could think to change was "Number of Previous Items" (under SMS) which I set to 50. The thought was maybe the old SMS's on my SIM card were confusing the phone making it delete the newer ones?
In any case that didn't work either and now I fear losing unread SMS's. Does anyone have any ideas? Or is it time for a downgrade?

Thanks.

aside from that (possible) clarification, i'm sorry, i have no resolution.

http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=1871should that FAQ be updated, to identify the Hong Kong CSL link as "Where can I download Blackberry OS 4.1"?

since we have no control over how their link lists the file (simply "7100g"), perhaps our detail should be more accurate, so that our posters and users can find it and know what it truly is?

This is my first post on this forum... I really regret that it is a question

I have a BB 7105t T-Mobile version unit with ver. 4.0.2

I utilize a BT headset for working in the field. I used my Jabra BT200 with my previous phone, and carried it over to the 7105t when I got it. It worked for a while, then it has issues with dropping out the bluetooth at weird instances. After dealing with this for a while, I decided to research an "approved" BT headset for the 7105t. I purchased the Plantronics Discovery 640 and have used it for a few days. The headset itself is awesome, with great clarity and even loud volume (y) I have seen many users that have also used this same setup and had no problems (reported).

The problems that I am experiencing with the bluetooth headset are now persistant. All incoming calls, the functionality is working correctly. However the outgoing calls sometimes sync up, and sometimes not. The bluetooth headset is still connected (paired), but it routes the call to the phone, not the headset. 75% of the time (for outgoing calls) they don't work, 25% of the time they work...

All of that history, to ask what others think about maybe upgrading my phone to the new 4.1 version????

If anyone has also experienced this problem, or viewed a thread that I somehow missed, please post here. Thankyou

I have upgraded 4 of these 7100t/7105t units (all on corporate BES) to HK 4.1 and have no problems whatsoever. I don't manually do the Enterprise Activation. I let it activate automatically. I make sure my computer is connected to the corporate email server first, via my company vpn, as if I was going to open my Outlook. Then I plug in the handheld and run the desktop manager. It should say "connected" and "online" and then update the BB software. When the upgrade is finished I leave the unit plugged in for a few more minutes. The Enterprise Activation begins automatically and takes anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Once it's started you can unplug the handheld and it will do the activation OTA. Again, I've done 4 so far with no errors whatsoever. It works great! Lots of nice features, too.

supposedly you can take the chinese module from OS 4.0, do a little bit of ALX editing and add it to the CSL release. someone on these forums did this - might want to search for chinese.

I also just upgraded to 4.1 HK on a 7105t. All IM clients fail to operate now. At sign in they give a message which says "The application Instant Messaging has requested a sms connection to 4670" The port number is variable depending on IM client. I hit "Allow connection" and it sticks around at 20% until it gives a pop-up that says "Communication error. Please try again or check your settings."

I get some gibberishy messages in my message box that correspond to the attempt to login. The message will contain number and letter strings. Buried in there is the word "successful" and also the phrase "internal server or network error"

Can anyone offer a clue?

I'm usually the first to grab new software, but I'm going to pass. If my 7100t were to get any *slower*, I might die. How useful is the browser update?

Besides, ever since I found the OTA download of the small icons theme, it feels like a new phone anyway.

I just installed the T-Mobile 4.1 software on my 7100t ( previuosly had the Hong Kong version of 4.1). Works great, with one exception:

When trying to use the bookmarks I had previously added to the browser myself, I get an " error 503 Service Unavailable" messgage. the pre-installed bookmarks ( google, ESPN, T-Zones, etc) all work fine.

I also experience this error message when typing in a URL from the browser or from Berry 411 plug-ins.

I have re-booted ( battery out and back in), synced with the desktop manager, changed themes, and resent my service books with no success.

I did search the forums for info on this, but had no luck.

Any insights?

Thanks in advance!

By way of date to my below issue, I have discovered that I can access all of my bookamrks if I use the "Browser" icon- if I use any other browser related icons ( i.e; Blackberry Browser, Download Fun, the hot keyon my keypad or Berry 411) the 503 error appears.

Oddly enough, I have full access to BBWeather and my AOL IM account.

I'm stumped. Anyone have any thoughts? As long as I can get at my bookmarks via the browser icon, life is good, but I find this pretty unusual, and wonder if anyone else has expereinced something similar.
