Hi,

I purchased a second hand BlackBerry Curve 8310 from CeX (a big trading shop in the UK).

After getting the BlackBerry home, and trying to set it up, i found that it had previously been used with a BES, so i have no way of setting an email function up on this.

Also, does anyone have any idea why o2 won't allow me to have a data plan? I'm using this as Pay As You Go, and contacted o2 support line this morning, only to be told (quite rudely) that there is nothing they can do, as they do not support Pay As You Go, despite selling them on Pay As You Go in Carphone Warehouse...

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks.

The Blackberry MUST be removed from the BES. If you cannot have this done , return it.
I dont know of any other way unless some else here does.

Generally carriers dont allow data plans with Pay-as-Go plans

If the BB is still attached to a BES, then you have a problem, as tsac says.

If the BB was on a BES, but no longer, then take a look at http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Remove_IT_Policy.

I removed the IT Policy already, but the "i want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server" still appears.

I have no idea if this means the phone is still connected to the BES or not, as i bought it through a shop, who had received it through a sale. I have no idea which company/BES it was attached too.

Thanks.

What are you trying to do? If you are running the setup wizard and you are seeing that for email setup, then, as you already have learned, you need a blackberry data plan to use the blackberry email.

This is why you have to return it. If it's still associated with the old BES account, you won't be able to set up your own account until it's no longer associated with that BES. Just removing the IT Policy doesn't to that. Send it back immediately.

Okay no worries, thanks for your help.

I intend to get it replaced with another one (which i will check to see if it is connected to a BES)

But as i can't get a Data Plan, any ideas on what i can do to get internet access as an alternative?

Thanks for the links guys.

o2 said, they do an internet bolt on, but they can't guarantee it'll work on my blackberry, which kind of leaves me in a no win situation
