PLEASE HELP. 8520 Charging and Power Problems

Got a new BB 8520 today. Had it on without sim for a while and it worked ok. Took out battery and popped the sim in and when i went to turn it on it didnt respond. Ive had it on charge on the mains for two hours and still nothing.

When I plug it in to charge the red light comes on for 10 seconds then off again, then a white screen with a battery and lightning bolt symbol appears, the battery remains fully white and its doesnt seem to be doing anything other than keeping this image on constantly until i unplug it.

PLLLEEAAASSEEEEE Help

two things.
Make sure your SIM card is in correct
Check to see the battery is in correct.

Thanks for the advice, ive tried both of those and they seem fine. :(

then i suggest returning it if it's new. With the SIM in wrong it should still power up ok.

I just needed some advice quickly and the initial post to which you refered was not attracting any support.
