I received only a Quick Start Guide and a Safety Booklet with my 8700 (bought at a Cingular retaii store). There was no full manual. I have not been able to find a manual specific to the 8700 on any RIM site. although I did find a manual for the 4.1 Handheld software used by the 8700 (link is shown below) and Quick Start manuals for the 8700r and 8700f. Is this all there is for a full manual for the 8700? RIM used to do an official manual for each device model, not just the software version used by the device.

You can buy a full manual called Blackbery Made Simple from one of the threads at this Blackberry forum.
Its a PDF document that you download. No hard cover available- This manual is over 200 pages and covers almost everything you can think of.

why do we have to buy the full manual? It was standard equipment in each phone!!! The price of the phones haven't gone down to warrant the loss of the book! I spent $485 for my 8700c thats $5 more than my 7290!!! if my 7290 got one in the box why didn't my 8700? Screw downloading it! I want a bound paper book! So what if I'm not going to read it! So what if it's a waste of trees! If they wanted to cut it out of the package they should have given me some sort of discount!

Dude it's a manual...all publicly available online for free from RIM's site, plus you seem like you can use a BB fairly well, no need for manual.

I'm told there is a full manual on the cd that came with the 8700. I'll check when I am back in my office tomorrow. If anyone has their cd at home, please check and see (1) is it there? and (2) is it for the 8700 specifically or for the 4.1 handheld software generally?

Thanks

Yeah, it's really just the principle of the matter, I paid too much for my phone, and even though it's really a minor issue, by excluding the manual they made more money from the deal then they previously did with units. If they had reduced the price of the phone, then I wouldn't say anything.

It's like Apple's ipods, they keep getting cooler and less expensive, but they keep reducing the standard equipment per unit to achieve the price points they want.

If they reduced the standard equipment without reducing the prices Apple would have received a better profit while we received less of a bargain. And no one would have been happy with that!
