Anyone been able to restore their 8700 to factory defaults? I have some applications that I can't get rid of. I've tried doing the application loader, removing myself from the bes, typing in the password ten times wrong, and these applications and themese keep staying on the device. Its really frustrating.

You can always use JavaLoader and "nuke" the device. Then reload the OS from scratch.

Nuke doesn't exist anymore.
There is a sticky thread on how to reload the handheld OS. You will need a program called "javaloader" and the 8700 handheld code from your carrier. If you already have the handheld code, get javaloader, connect the 8700 and type

javaloader -usb wipe

from a DOS prompt. That will completely wipe out everything (except an IT Policy) from the BB.

I refer to javaloader -usb wipe as "nuking" the device. I find it extremely confusing that you can wipe the device under Security and via javaloader.

Did nuke previously exist as a menu option? Did it perform the same function as javaloader -usb wipe?

** FUNNY ** - yes, there used to be a "nuke" option on early versions of Javaloader (and its predecessor, "programmer"). That's what I thought you meant by "nuke" it :-)

Nuke wiped out the BB even more so than a wipe. The command warned that you shoul dimmediately reload the OS or damage could result!
