On my old 7290, I used to be able to assign pictures for the screen saver, which came on after the unit had been idle for a while. I can't seem to toggle this option on the 8700... does anyone have this experience?

8700 does not support standby screen... when it's been idle for a while, the screen simply shuts off (just like the 7100's)...

Why would it support it? The Screen simply shuts off, thats really what the 7290 should have done. I think the way they currently have it is best. It's not like you'd want to look at the screen when it's in standby.

Sorry, the 7290 works the way it should. The screen is is not lit unless you turn on the backlight. The 8700 has a different type screen which requires lighting to be seen.

If you don't allow the Handset to go into standby mode, your battery life will be greatly reduced.

Hope this helps.

As mentioned, it's not a bug. To see the standby screen (if it supported it) the backlight would have to be on.

I definitely like to glance at my screen when it's sitting on the counter and see if I have messages as I walk by, I wish the 8700c did this! It's my only gripe so far... Yeah, I can watch for the red flash LED I guess :)
