I just got my hands on my wife's 8310 Curve. She is not using it anymore. Can I just insert the SIM CARD from my 8800 into the 8310 and go? Or do I need to bring it in to ATT or do something specific to the 8310 before it can recognize and configure my SIM CARD? We both use ATT, same account. Please advise, thanks in advance for the help.

Swapping the sim card will allow you to use the phone services, but it won't give you the data services associated with your old device. You'd need to update your email settings, etc. The easiest way to configure a new device is through your carriers BIS page. Just type in your carrier and "BIS" in google and you'll find the link without too much trouble.

You can change the BB model by using DM and the tools available to do that. This assumes you have a fully set up BB 8800 with a data plan from ATT on both phones.
I have done this with 3 BB changes.

You'll probably want to have at&t kill her BIS account so you can transfer yours to the 8310. Or, I guess she could give you her BIS credentials and you can use her BIS account.
