Dialing phone numbers

When dialing a phone number from the main screen my key pad numbers "beep" eventhough my "key tone" is off in the settings menu. I would prefer them not make noise.. anyone help?

Surely someone else is having this problem or knows how to fix it... Please help.

BTW - I think the answer is there is no way to do that.

Pre handheld OS 4.1, I could scroll down to the recently used column and then select the names by letters and if i scrolled up i could dial by number.

Now on OS 4.1, i can only dial by number. Anyway to fix that?
