Browse the USPTO publications with "Research In Motion" as the assignee name to find what they've disclosed so far. Publications are usually granted 18 months before the patents. For the next year and a half, the USPTO reviews the claims and prior art before granting patents.
For the rest of us, it's a great repository of RIM stuff. If flow diagrams aren't your thing, the new handheld designs and QWERTY layouts might be! Some are ccol, others are outrageous! Hopefully, they are staking claim on some just to prevent their release!
"Media Storage Device" has long been a wish or rumor depending on who you talk to on BBForums. Now, you can see a drawing of it! 20050269224 Media storage devices (08Dec05) - A multi-CD-Rom holder for binders!! HAHAHA! Okay, so BES Admins might want a RIM-branded storage binder on their shelf!?
Right now. there (91) Publications issued in 2005, (4) in 2004, and (2) in 2003. The publications can be viewed as text-only on the USPTO site. If you have a Tiff Reader installed, you can see images of the publications (and patents), including drawings. I use AlternaTIFF, which is an ActiveX installation - info on the USPTO site too.
Get a real rumor started! I'll leave a few listings below.
