I am currently posting on all the known popular websites the same question, so please dont flag me if you see this question elsewhere.

I am currently using my first and only balckberry, the 8820 on AT&T fully updated and working great! I have been reading alot about the new 9700 and the trackpad and wondering about upgrading. I currently can upgrade on my bis. account for 49.00 after mail in rebates!!

so the question, is the 9700 much better then what i have now? my phone is still made and being sold for much more because of the lack of a camera im told, its a great phone but maybe its time to jump in and get with the 5.0 and trackpad?

please help me decide what i should do!! Thank you!!;-)

I would definitely upgrade. More memory, camera, etc. The 8820 is a legacy device at this point. It's definitely worth the $50.

My only question is, what will you do about your username?

Go with the 9700, buddy. 9700 makes things better.

You need an admin to change your username. A mod wont cut it ;-)

right on, first i need to wait until the shinny new one is in my posession!!! it is looking like the 9700 may be comming home with me but i will still keep my 8820 as a backup, i put a new case, keypad, lense, trackball and siderails on her so she looks brand new still!!

Depends on how much you need the $50 for other things.

for my birthday my wife got me the last 9700 in stock!! we didnt get it for the 49.00 we thought it actually ended up being 99.00 but who cares.

first thoughts, its a little faster than the 8820 which i like, its also smaller which is gonna take some getting used too. also i can browse the web while talking on the phone which is super cool!!!! and the bluetooth range is like 3 times what the 8820 was.

I have some questions though about a few things i dont like too much and thought maybe you pro's can help me out!!

1) when on the internet for like a half hour or longer it tends to get warm, is this ok? my 8820 doesnt.

2) with the 5.0 series op. system is there anyway to configure the browser like the 8820? it shows me full internet pages and i have to keep zooming in to see the pages and then i have to do alot of scrolling to get where im going. craigslist is the main website where im having this trouble. the 8820 would format it perfectly and this one does not.

3) also, seems like i had to make my own screen protector because no stores seem to stock them? any ideas where i could check to possibly find one?

overall i really am loving the new 9700 and the camera takes excellent pictures!! I would love to get some opinions on these few questions to see what you guys have done with yours.

as always thanks in advance!!!!(y)

Upgrade man. faster processor, better picture, and better sound. I think the trackpad is alot more reliable then the trackball. It seem like you got a pretty nice discount for the 9700 too.

YOu may want to make sure you're running the latest OS for the 9700. That can sort out the heat issue you're having. For now, when you notice it getting uncomfortably warm you should do a quick battery pull.
