Contacts don't show up when I type them

Sorry if this has already been posted but I got the curve 2 and downloaded my contacts using google sync. However when I type them on the home screen they don't show up but are there in my address book. Any help would be appreciated.

Home screen? do you mean the screen for the phone or ?

Go to Call Log > Options > General Options > Dial From Home Screen = Yes.
