Truncated SMS Messages

I have a BB user I support with a problem that has me stumped. The device in questions is a Sprint 7250, OS v4.0.2.84, BES 4.0 for Domino. It BB doubles as a pager, receiving SMS pages. Almost all of the pages are long enough that they should be broken up into multiple messages. Here is the problem... Not all the messages are arriving complete. Some messages seem to be truncated and only arrive as one message instead of two. I was able to send a multi-part SMS message to the device and it arrived complete, in two parts. Not sure what to check. Looking for some suggestions.
