Character counter app for emails?

Does anybody know if there is an app that counts the characters you have typed in emails? This would be nice as I uses emails to send to friends as SMS, since I dont want to pay extra fees for SMS.

Do an internet search. Some do exist but if they actually work is another thing. Using a limited plan with a Blackberry is not a good idea because of the issues you have.
some carrier offer unlimited texting with very little cost over the voice plans. Most link texting with the voice plan and not the Data plan so it may be worth a call to the carrier.
