i have just got a blackberry curve 8520 i was wondering if i can set up an email address from my laptop eg,, something@<hidden> is this possible if so can i have the web adreess that enables me to do so thaank you

nope, the carrier supplied email is only viewable on the blackberry.
One reason its not recommended for use.
