My carrier is Alltel. The other day I called my fiance and get this message that the Verizon customer is out of the calling area. He's Alltel, too. Today I try to call my mom's home number from my BB (she lives a block away) and MY phone says something to the effect of "as a Verizon customer, please enter 1+ the area code while roaming".

Weird thing is, my fiances ex wife's new husband is a techie and has recently made comments to his wife about texts my fiance and I send to each other.

They do NOT live close to us and have had NO access to our phones but does know the phone numbers. Is there a way he is remotely able to get our texts? This is freaking me out because this is my WORK phone and I deal with confidential information. I called Alltel and they said it's possible my phone has been hacked but without a subpoena they won't release anything. I can't get a subpoena on a hunch so I'm at a loss.

The kids did say he had some sort of spyware program on his computer when they were there last summer. At that time he had access to the kids phones and that would explain how he knew what they were texting their dad.

Other thing is for the last two days, my phone has been slow and when I click the back arrow while in a message, it says "B$". It's never done that before, but I've only had this particular phone for a month.

I appreciate any help I can get on this!

Jaime

Not sure about all the spy vs spy stuff... but didn't Verizon acquire Alltel a while back? Maybe the recorded messages are related to work they are doing to merge the networks and/or customer bases. Just a thought.

There are some spy programs, but they generally do not work on CDMA phones. Verizon/Alltel are all CDMA phones.

You said this is a work phone - is it on a BES? If so, the BES admin can see what apps are on the phone or if it's been hacked. The safest thing is to wipe it and reinstall the OS. The BES admin can do that.

You're correct. Acquired January 2009.

And change all your password on email accounts and the phone, etc.

And make sure nothing is set to BCC another account. That's a sneaky low-tech way to keep tabs on someone.

I would say something about the hacker and see if it gets repeated or something about something he knows about and say if he hears from him again he will ask for advise.

If the fools calls you got him.
