OS is Mega Slow

Anyone else here with a 7750 or similar handheld find their unit to be REALLY sluggish? I mean it takes almost 60 seconds to load the calculator sometimes.

That is definitely not normal behaviour.

Try checking your free memory (use Options/Status) -- it may be very low.

It's a known issue with the 7750 and CDMA BB as a whole that they're slower then GSM models.

If you want a much faster BlackBerry, I would recommend one of the recent GSM models. 7280 or 7290.

(The 7290 upgraded to at least BlackBerryOS 4.0.0.185 or later, would be my favourite.)

However, even a 7750 shouldn't be THAT slow -- launching the calculator shouldn't take that long. You need to upgrade BlackBerryOS to a more recent version of Version 3.7.

Try rebooting your BlackBerry. Alt+Cap+Delete or temporarily remove battery.

60 seconds? Wow, I thought my 10-15 seconds was bad on my 7280 with os4.

I'd upgrade to a more recent released version of 3.7 as Mark said, it should clear up some problems.

It takes only 1 to 2 seconds to load my Calculator on my BlackBerry 7280. (OS 4.0.0.185)

I tested a CDMA 7750 with Sprint for a couple weeks and it is a painfully slow device...navigating around ends up in a lot of delayed screens. I never opened the calc, but I wouldn't be surprised if it would take a long time. Get a 7290, they are fast and have lots of RAM.

I've noticed that my 7100T has been running much slower since my BES upgraded to 4.0. Not only that but my battery life has been cut almost in half.

Ditto, I tested a 7750 from Verizon and took it back the next day - while it's usable for some, I feel that it is a fatally flawed design (should have included more memory for CDMA). When entering my passcode to access voicemail, it would take forever to send the tones. It's junk

I knew it was junk when I would get a message, and even the "alert" tones would be off the normal rhythm and have varying pause lengths in between notes. Pure garbage. I told the Sprint rep they needed to come up with a better Blackberry handheld before we would even consider using their Blackberry service. The rep said they have a different Blackberry handheld coming out in a few months so I guess we'll see what happens.

I'd also like to know if other folks are seeing battery life problems once their BES is upgraded to 4.0.

I've noted this in a couple of posts on PDAStreet.com.

The battery doesn't last at all. If I leave my 7750 in the cradle all day so that by the time I leave work it's at 100% then by the time I get up in the morning the battery is somewhere around 50-60%. And I'm not a big phone user. I usually enable DND once I get home.

I had installed the today screen freebie. It's a terrific app but it seems to have a heavy power requirement. I uninstalled that app and battery usage got much better but still not as good as V3.x performance.

Memory is also a PITA with V4:

I've seen some posts that mention you must have about 1.5MB free memory. I had a lot less than a meg free and when I deleted most of the messages it came up to about a meg or so. Vast improvement. Right now I have 723K free and it's tolerable, but slow.

My verizon 7750 battery seems to be lasting 2-3 days on standby, from a full charge. I do agree, though, it is pitifully slow compared even my ancient Nokia cell phones.
