Hello All!

I recently purchased a Blackberry and setup my email on the device. Email is working as normal on the Blackberry but I have noticed I am not able to send emails from my PC now. Nothing at all has been changed on the PC. Has anyone experienced this as well? Any ideas what may be causing it?

Thanks for any assistance!

The ability to "send emails from [your] PC" would not be affected by your BlackBerry.

This sounds like a PC issue or an issue with your ISP.

Can you provide more details?

Has to be an issue between the Email client on the PC and the source of your email - the ISP where it is hosted. A M-M said above, the BB setup should have nothing to do with what is going on with your BB.

I figured it wouldn't have anything to do with the email on the PC either, but as soon as the Blackberry was setup the email on the PC stopped working. Nothing has been changed on the PC.

So, what is your setup? Is it webmail (Google?), POP3 inbox through your ISP, what?

How do you access it? Web browser? Outlook or so other email client?

When you say it doesn't work, what exactly isn't working?

It is a POP3/SMTP account accessed through Outlook

I am not able to send. Error given --

Task ***email address*** <mailto:***email address***> - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

You must have changed an option on your outlook.
This is the info on a normal setup using a POP account on a blackberry. unless you did not follow these instructions, more details are needed.

I suspect it is a temporary problem with connecting to the server, and just coincidence that it happened at the same time.

Does your ISP have a forum or news server for service issues? That would be the first place I would check. Or, report the problem and see if you get confirmation from someone else or from a rep.

Microsoft does report the error number as a general error that may be exactly what

I reckon everyone who has or has had a POP3 account has experienced this, or similar. Either the can't connect error, or authentication error when you haven't changed a thing. It happens once in a while. Just wait while and try again. If it does straighten out on its own after a while, then call customer service.
