Email/Facebook Notification Icon

Hi

I got a Black Berry Curve 8520 yesterday.

I have all my email and facebook set up on it.

I have my email and facebook icons on the home page.

The problem i have is that the little red notification icon that appears above the app icon when i get a email or message from facebook has disappeared.

I have been into the settings and it says that it is turned on, but it still doesn't appear.

Any help appreciated.

I would try a battery pull.

The Red will disappear after you read the new message, and will come back when you get a new message.

If you have 2 facebook messages open facebook/messages folder and read only one the red indicator will disappear as well and only come back after you receive a new unread facebook message.

Yes but it was working before, now the notification icons do not appear above the app at all. Its completely stopped working

Are you getting FaceBook messages or just email from FaceBook itself?

im am getting the messages from my Yahoo account through BlackBerry mail and getting all messages/notifications from facebook. Its just no red notification icon appears above the mail or facebook app to tell me i have received something.

Are you at least getting the icon in the notification area/home screen? (where time/signal bars area?

Yes i get a notification in that area. At least for the facebook i can see it is a notification from facebook because of the small little F symbol, but for the email i get an envelope and it is hard to tell the difference between that and a SMS message. Thats why i would like the small red notification above the app to come back.

move the icon off the home screen, to the next line in the main app screen. click to move it there.
then move it back.

this has been noted here to bring back the red star notification.

Just tried that and got someone to send me a email and Facebook message but doesn't work? :S strange

Is there any other settings that could cause this notification to stop working.

I have also uninstalled Facebook then reinstalled it and deleted my email and added it again but nothing.

Oh yeah, if i click on the BB menu the red star appears if i get an email or Facebook message, its just on the home screen.

I have just backed up my contacts ect on mylookout.com and done a handset wipe and reinstalled facebook and mail ect...

its back working.

Hi!,
Your mail account might have filter if yes,
than open mail box on BBM> click menu> filter> all mails
you will be able to see unread mails. open mails and icon will vanish.

I use facebook all the time on my BB. The problem is, I have read ALL my notifications and it still says I have 4 new notifications. I have tried a battery pull and it did not help. How do I find any unread (could be 2+ months ago) notifications or just delete and start over? I also have a yellow globe and have no idea what it is from.

Caldwelh, in facebook app, go to the notification page, highlight the date bar and press menu - mark prior opened. or -delete prior.

The yellow globe is a browser message and will be found under MESSAGES - menu - view folder - BROWSER MESSAGES
