Help deleting BBM

I have never used BBM and will not in the future. I would love to free up some memory. Could someone tell me how to delete BBM off my Blackberry 9650. Thanks

I tried options-applications-core application-- BBM but it will not allow me to delete it. There is no delete option.

Try the Application Loader in BlackBerry Desktop Manager. But on some OS versions, it's not deletable.

Interest. I didn't know it can't be deleted on some OS versions.

I noticed on my system it is under add-on, not under core, and I can delete.

I'll be curious to know if you can remove it with desktop manager add/remove applications. If it is now a core app on your system, I suspect you may not be able.

Using application loader should work, here are the steps on how to do it:

Look at the bottom of pg 5.

If this fails, there is another way to do it using javaloader. Let me know.

BBM is listed as a core application. Tried application loader but BBM is checked and grayed out (unable) to change. Please tell me about javaloader. Thanks

I believe if you upgrade the messenger to the latest version it will move the application from core to add-on. I noticed that when I was fooling around with my BB....because I saw 5.0 version BB in my core when I know that there was a later version available when you download (my current unit is a fresh replacement)...

Hope this helps to get rid of the BBM..although I have to say, love it :-)

This is one of the few things I really can't stand about BlackBerries.

If you want to rid your phone of an application or a piece of software you don't want to use then it should be straightforward and only take a few clicks. I recently underwent a free apps binge and foolishly got my hands on such stupid apps as 'Aristotle's Virtuousness Test' and the quite frankly poor Guardian app (essentially a link to their mobile site). I'm now stuck with them for life.

If you cannot delete applications that you installed, you are doing something wrong. What you posted is not related to this thread at all.

Yeah you're right, there's certainly nothing in this thread related to uninstalling applications whatsoever, particularly BBM. How blind of me.

This obviously isn't going to be the case with all BB users but it does happen to me and a few others, hopefully not to the OP otherwise he/she will not be able to uninstall BBM.

Give an example.

The only thing I've experienced along those lines, and it was a long time and several blackberry models ago, is I deleted an app but still had the icon. Somehow a module got left behind. I deleted the module. Other than that, I have had no trouble deleting an app.

I can see the possibility that BBM has been made a core app. I don't know the reason, if it indeed has, but it wouldn't surprise me.
