Are you talking about these commercials Cingular has been running with all these cute girls talking to their friends all at once?

I heard that the 8700c will have ppt. Not sure when it will be released, but from what I heard, the 8700c has kodiak in it.

We had a conference call with Cingular today and they are going to find out if the 8700c or future BB's will support PTT.

Well, from what I've read, Cingular PTT is basically a Java applet that is installed on the phones. I don't see how it wouldn't run on other devices with some modifications.

Okay, what is a Kodiak? Do you mean Codec? The Codec would be the piece of hardware (or Java Applet software) that would convert the digital PTT signals required to make the function work.

Oh, wait I've answered my question (Used the search button)

"Kodiak Networks" provides GSM providers with a "Real-Time-Exchange" which would allow the GSM providers with Advanced Voice Services such as Push-To-Talk!

Duh...

Where did you hear this info? Is there anyway to check it? I'm very interested in being able to upgrade my device to feature PTT if it is possible and if they decided to do it. I just don't want to get my hopes up if there's no possible way.

A B2B Cingular rep. and a corporate telecom person in my company (sorry, I can't name the company) that told me the same.
