I have a new Blackberry (so am also new to this forum). I have been doing backups but when my phone updated and wiped out everything today, none of the downloads I had downloaded reappeared when I did a restore. Alltel tells me that's the case--that downloaded apps cannot be updated.

Is this really the case? If so, is RIM in the Dark Ages? Can you imagine if everytime Microsoft provided a Windows update you had to download or reinstall all your applications again? What's up with RIM if this is the case?

Or is there a way (hopefully) to backup the apps to a computer so when Alltel requires updates, I don't have to start from scratch and redownload everything again?

:-o

You can also download a software named BBSAK on your computer and use that to backup the third party applications.

It would be helpful if you'd provide a link for this. I cannot find it either on credible download sites or the Blackberry site (or by a straight google search).

Hmmm ... your Google must work differently from mine. ;)

You will need to register to download.

Not true, actually. No registration required to complete the download and install.
