I want to buy a blackberry off craigslist, and get a sim card to use rogers pay as you go for blackberry. Do I need to be 18 years old to get the data plan? If so, does bbm work without the data plan? Are there any applications that do work without the data plan?

You can read the FAQ and use the SEARCH feature to find the answers. As for the age, you should call Rogers and ask.

what? Why on earth would I need a data plan to do that? Doesnt it come with a usb cable or something like every other phone?

If you enter into a contract, you probably have to be 18. You might check to see if Rogers offers prepaid service that wouldn't require a contract.

As for putting music on, you can transfer it via the USB cable that comes with it.

Thats what I thought about the music thing, but as for the age, without a contract I absolutley do not need to be 18 to buy the data plan?

I would check with Rogers, but you may need to be 18 for anything. The term 'contract' is often misused. It is usually used to refer to a multiyear agreement. From a business and legal standpoint, a month to month agreement is also a 'contract', with terms and conditions. And you need to be 18 to sign one of those.

As far as I know Rogers does not offer Blackberry data on pay as you go.
