My phone randomly turned off and the red light was showing constantly, it only disappeared when i took the battery out.
After a few attempts of turning it on i had a picture appear on my screen of a battery with a red line through it. I've tried charging it and ive used one of my friends batterys out of their 8520 and it turned on.
Any advice? help would be appreciated 8-)

So, you get a battery error with your battery? The device will not charge with your battery installed? The device boots up with another battery?

Make sure the device will charge the other battery. If so, it would seem your battery has failed. So, get another battery. Buy OEM, not a knockoff. And don't buy the cheapest you can find.

I was out when i used my friends battery. I'll presume it's the battery. How much could i buy an OEM for, and what is an OEM?

In this case, OEM means get an original blackberry battery, not an aftermarket battery.

Check the sponsors of the forum, crackberry, amazon.com. If you buy from a blackberry store or a carrier store you'll be paying full retail. Check those online sources I mention and see what the price range is. I would trust any one of them.
