BB 8900 GPS but no GPRS or EDGE

I have a BB 8900 that will link to GPS but will not connect to EDGE or GPRS.

Is this be a symptom of provider locking or could the transceiver knackered in some way?

GPS has nothing to do with the cell connection. It is a radio signal that is received and data is converted to lat/long by the device.

GPRS/EDGE are cell carrier related. Is your device an O2 8900? Does it have an O2 SIM? We need more information.

i am not sure about the the carrier but i got the same result with an O2 and Vodafone sim
