The option to synchronize certificates in desktop software 6.0 is not currently available.
But I want to read and send encrypted/signed mails on BB.
I tried to export certificate file .pfx including private key from IE/MS Outlook protected with password. Then I copied the cert files to BB's media card (TF). In the options-security options-S/MIME- signing options/encryption options to 'Import Media Card Certificates'. It can find and recognize these cert files, but after input the correct password, it shows 'read file error'.
Anyone knows what's the issue? Or I have to wait until the next release of desktop software 6.0, downgrade to 5.0?
Thanks.

We recently had a a bunch of problems with this exact issue.

In an internal KB (KB24743) RIM finally admitted to a problem with 2 versions of device code 5.0.0.975 for the 9650 and the 9630 and 5.0.0.862 for the 9700.

You could downgrade to Desktop Manager, version 5 and use the Cert. Sync to do a wired sync. or you can downgrade the OS of your device to the version prior to 5.0.0.862 for the 9700 and then retrieve and import the certs via email.

After upgraded to OS 5.0.0.1014, this issue fixed.

I have version 5.0.0.822 for the Bold 9000 on AT&T. I had to downgrade the DM to 5.0 to successfully get the certs installed as sending them via email didn't work (no error message, it just didn't work.)

I am up for contract soon and am thinking of the Torch, which we all know is 6.0 and only runs on the DM 6.0, and DM 6.0 doesn't have SMIME syncing. Is the Torch (or OS 6.0) able to install certs via email? And if not, does anybody know what RIM is telling Torch users to do if they want SMIME.

Thanks,
Sandy
