Hi,
First some info. I have a cingular 7290 with BES & BIS combo. It seems RIM is bombarding my BIS (could be BES too, I'm not sure) account with these auto emails. The emails are always from :
network@<hidden> (where x is a number from 1-9)
The text is always:
This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry Handheld and an associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server.
I'm getting like 50 of these a day for the last several days.
Recently my laptop went down and I had to install the desktop software on a new computer, it seems that is when this started.
Any help would be appreciated. I tried reseting the bb, I logged into BIS to make sure everything is ok there too. This has happened before, I just don't remember what to do.
Thanks.

When you installed the DM on the new computer, you installed it with the Redirect option instead of the BIS option, so this computer is trying to communicate with the BB. You need to un-install the DM software and reinstall it correctly and maybe delete some service books from the handheld.
I don't think you need to do much else, but resending the service books from the webclient and removing the battery from the handheld to reset it, might be needed too.
I use to get these too, but since my home PC wasn't on 24/7 it wasn't as bad.

Sounds like your getting the Enterprise Activation email to your BIS account. Which email address did you use with the Enterprise Activation? Did you even use Enterprise Activation? When you installed the BlackBerry Desktop Software did you choose BIS or BES? You must choose BES if planning to use both. May want to uninstall and reinstall just to be safe.

I'm pretty sure I installed all of the options. I did not need to go through enterprise activiation, as only my laptop went down, not my blackberry. The only reason I installed the software in the first place was because my blackberry would not charge without it. I have now unistalled the software completely, hopefully the messages will stop.

Wirelessly posted (7250/4.0.0.204: BlackBerry7250/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)
In addition to removing the desktop redirector software from your laptop you should also delete any service books that reference either "desktop" or "redirector".
When you reinstall the Desktop Manager be sure to choose the "BlackBerry Internet Service" installation.

I have completely uninstalled the software and I am still receiving the messages. There are no service books that reference 'redirector', and I am certainly NOT going to delete all of the service books that reference 'desktop' (currently there are 5: browserconfig, IPPP, ALP, CICAL, CMIME).
Thanks.

LOL.. yep.. you set up re director.. ugly stuff..
un install the desktop.. you may have to take out the registrations also and let it reload from your carrier..
bis.. is nice.. bes is better.. but don't use re director.. unless you have to..

I will repeat.
I did not set up redirector. Accidentally or otherwise.
Desktop manager is no longer installed on the computer.
I am still getting emails every 20 minutes.

Bump for help.
Being on both BES and BIS can cause problems like that. Most notably happens when using Redirector and BES. Make sure that under Options > Message Services that the CMIME is set for the Desktop service book. Also, go into Options and Service books and open the Desktop CMIME. See if the UID is a s####### type deal, or an email address. If its an email address, its a redirector service book and you'll need to get the BES one back.

Why wouldn't you want to delete all the service books and just resend them again?
On BES, he would have to contact his BES admin and perform a new Enterprise Activation, since he doesn't have the Desktop software installed anymore. You can regenerate an encryption key from the handheld, but not if you delete the service books first.

Hmm, my Desktop [CMIME] service book does have an email address (from one of the BIS accounts) as the UID....thanks.

Well, I deleted the Desktop [CMIME] service book and am going through enterprise activiation again. I'm still getting the emails though.

Did you wipe the BB before activating the Enterprise again?
I had the same problem. I had to uninstall the Desktop Manager, wipe the BB, and reactivate the Enterprise. That solved my problem. I then reinstalled the Desktop Manager to choose the option for BlackBerry Web Service instead of the BES. When you install it that way, it does not install Redirector.

I think I had another desktop service book with the UID wrong. I erased it. Now I am waiting for a new enterprise activation password.
