can the pictured charger or alike (any non OEM) damage the battery?

why/how or why not?

I also have speculations .. but I wish if someone with a degree in electronics - who knows about every item on the circuit board... someone who can design a charger from the ground up ... would comment...

thank you...

Your expectations are too high. Normal people visit here, most times.

I don't have a degree in electronics but I have a charger like that and I have used it on my Bold 9700, 9900, Pearl, Curve, HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S 4G, G2 and even my Nikon camera batteries and I have never had a problem.

In fact, that adjustable charger is easier to carry if you are traveling rather than a charger for each device. I think the design is pure genius.

Most important is to make sure you are charging at the correct voltage.

Next is charge rate or mAh. Try to match what it says on the charger that came with your bb. Too high a rate will charge your battery faster but generate more heat and batteries do not like heat.

hope this helps

good info thanks...

sounds like I will be OK with it...
