are "random" bbm requests common?

received 2 bbm requests today from complete strangers - never happened to me before. i added the first thinking it was someone who had found my daughters lost sim card (in costa rica), but ignored the second. "she" says she's from russia and got my pin by "random" and not from a sim card she found ... i don't believe her, but am wondering if there is a way to randomly get pin #'s?

Not "common". But they do happen.

It's the same as spam email. It's typically just random.

Note that the SIM card is not associated with the BlackBerry PIN. So someone who found the SIM card would not have access to the PIN from which the card came.
