Hello toocool49. Not a dumb question at all.

In BBM click on your avatar, and Select Picture under 'Avatar', you should see some new .gifs to choose from.

You can also search Google for 'Animated BBM Avatars'

BBM Animated (http://bbm-animated.com/)

All animated .gifs must be square in dimension, and not be bigger than 32K I believe.

Hi ZombieBerry, thanks for replying.
I clicked on my avatar (display picture), the Profile screen opened but the pictures in the Avatars folder are...static :-( So much for animated...

The ones at the top are static, if you scroll down, you will see the name of the animated .gif with the file extension .gif below the picture.

I have 74 Avatar pictures in that directory. The .gifs are near the bottom. You really want to download your own and use em. The ones that are included are weaksauce. Not very imaginative or anything.

You can always create your own as well using GIMP or Photoshop.

Here are some tuts.

There are also websites that will either create an animated .gif from photo files you have, or split one into frames so you can edit and change. Google should sort you out. Like here http://www.gifmagic.com/

Thanks for the prompt and exhaustive reply ! Cool.
Too bad they are animated only if you highlight the pic :-(

I tried that site with animated avatars, but it kept bugging out on me, looks like a bad script.

Pimp My BBM (http://pimpmybbm.com) looks like a newer site, and it seems to have more content and is just designed better overall.
