Hello, i am having a problem my torch can't detect any 3G network, only 2G (GPRS,EDGE) and when i choose to connect to 3G only, it says no networks available, i have changed the sim seem the problem was not in the sim, its on the phone i tried 5 sim cards, i made a security wiipe and the problem still presist, i updated my OS, and no use, then i reinstalled the software and deleted the old one, and i still have the same problem, i dont know if its in the antenna, i went to the retail store i bought it from, they closed the shop, i went to many blackberry maintenance centres, they dont know what the problem is.
please if any one have an idea let me know on how to solve it.

thanks in advance

It is entirely possible that the 9800 you purchased may not have the correct 3G bands present to support the 3G band(s) utilised by your provider, which I assume to be Saudi Telecom. Devices from the USA, for example, do not always have the same bands as overseas.

When you turn the phone on, what carrier shows up?

the problem didnt exist before, it started 2 weeks ago, i bought it last year

the carrier go straight to stc (saudi telecom) but goes
GSM ---> edge ----> EDGE ----> GPRS and stays on GPRS all the time

When you boot the phone, is there another carrier's logo on the screen?

Do you receive 3G with your SIM card in a different device? Have you dropped the device or gotten it wet?

It is entirely possible that the damage from the drop is just now manifesting itself. It sounds as though you will need to purchase a new device.

is there anything rather than buying a new device, it was quite expensive when i got it and i cant afford buying a new one now

Not really. Although, unless you're an expat in the KSA, a few thousand riyals for a 9810 or 9860 shouldn't dent your bank account much.

Just saying. No offence intended.
