I thought I might as well post this before someone else comes along and posts it as gospel. Several sites reported today that BB10 devices are going to be delayed until March 2012. An analyst, Peter Misek, wrote this - one who has in the past posted predictions/rumors about RIM that did not become fact, one who is known to be an Apply fanboy. This analyst stated nothing to back up his claims of the delay. The only way I would believe this is if I see it from Thorsten Heins. I am deliberately not posting a link. If anyone wants to read it, you can easily find it online.

While I want RIM to succeed I would not be surprised to see that kind of delay. Sort of fits in with how past releases and introductions have gone. It would mean that nothing has changed up there.

I certainly hope the rumor has no basis in fact......

Jeffries & Co. put this out to their clients yesterday and also made a public announcement. If you're following the stock, yesterday was not pretty.

RIM has said consistently (since the last delay) that Q1 was the target. Whispers at that time (June) was a March launch.

This "rumor" isn't a rumor. It is speculation. Somehow people believed that Q1 meant January. It can also mean March.

I don't read anything new in this. it did send the stock down 5%.

People don't understand that March is Q1, and stock still takes a dive on "bad" news.

This is why I don't pay much attention to the stock market.

Heins has been quoted several times as saying the first BB10 devices will be released in January.

One article - Thorsten Heins, Chief Executive Officer of BlackBerry makers Research in Motion, was in Johannesburg last week to meet with mobile network operators and introduce them to the BlackBerry 10 devices that will be launched in the first quarter of 2013. In the only interview he granted in South Africa, he told Gadgetxxx8217;s editor-in-chief about how the new operating system would give BlackBerry an edge.

I can't find anything about a January release. Q1, yes.

Here's an article I found, but they were speculated dates anyway. If it isn't launched in Q1, then I would start to worry.

So, at the end of the day, no one knows.

Regardless, January vs March is three whole months, even if still in Q1. That's a lot of time if you're up for an upgrade in November. The market is not my concern, as is the fact that my 9900 looks absolutely ancient at this point, with as much, if not more, as 5 months of wait time.

I just wish the BB10 would come out so 9900 prices will come down.
