This one is a deal breaker for me, since I drive a lot and use Google maps on my BB 9900.

Has anyone installed it on the Z10? Is it available? I used to go to google.com/gmm and download on my Nokia, BB etc. Does this work on the Z10?

Visit a shop and try it. Or search BlackBerry World.

Also, the built-in app uses TomTom maps, so it should be pretty good.

problem is, I am in India, and they dont have a demo piece in any shop.
Also Google maps is really good in India, Tested it on drives over 5000km. TomTom is not so good...

I guess we'll have to wait for another Indian user to chime in, or you can try this: Google Maps on Z10 + Navigation - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com (http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-z10-f254/google-maps-z10-navigation-766146/)

I've been using Waze on my iPhone... There is a BB beta now and I'm hoping that they'll support BB 10 by the time I pick up a z10.

Question is: How hard is it to side load Android apps onto the BB? I've tried to Google it and I've received numerous methods. Guess I'll have to cross that bridge when (or if) I get a Z10 or Q10.

Hey HashGordon, I have not gone thru all the replies yet. However I do have Google Map on my Z10. I downloaded it from apps.goodereader, then side-loaded it onto my Z10 wirelessly via my web browser.

Sideloading is very easy and quick actually. Are you allowed to put links to site here???

Ok, so Google Maps works hrough the browser, but its not as good as through an inbuilt app, of course. There is a lag.

I could not find any other app that may work. Navtaq is useless in India.

Just found out that Blackberry is offering mapmyindia.com maps for FREE on the app store for 'devices purchased from an authorised store'.

Mine is, so will download the over 200mb maps through my office wifi.

Will post what i see.

Umm, I downloaded it through apps.goodereader, as well. It does the job!

It's fairly easy to sideload it on Z10. These days, you can youtube almost everything on, "How to ...".

Good luck!

The only problem with sideloading is that the "stay awake" function does not work properly on many (if not all) apps.

Incidentally I have converted a number of apps that are not otherwise available; the number that work fine is surprisingly high. But the refusal to honor the "do not sleep" API call, along with the inability to set "when plugged in, do not sleep" in the device's settings is a DEADLY combination for anything that has to stay running.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I fail to see how it could be "deadly".

If you're using it to navigate and it shuts itself off because the phone ignores the "Stay awake" request from the API, you will find it to be rather troublesome (and that's being nice.)

It's an especially big problem if you're using it in your car.

So my 650mb free download of mapmyindia.com voice guided detailed maps if india work fine in India. No reason to miss google maps.

THE built in BB maps worked fine in Bangkok, Thailand, as well.
