just wondering if anyone else noticed this...

i know you can turn your phone off by holding the top button down and let it count down or press restart but i also found out that if you press and hold the volume up and down buttons for a little bit, it'll restart the phone also...

Shouldn't. Supposed to take a screen shot.

Hmmm, actually it does. Keep holding through the screen shot, plus about 3 seconds, and mine reboots. An alternate recovery method in case something happens to the top button?

I wonder if this is a more thorough reboot like the old battery pull trick?

My brain keeps telling me that there was some simillar switchology on the Dev Alpha original OS builds, but I'm having trouble believing it.

Over on CB some people have found, after news broke here, that holding one volume button down then pressing the other causes a reboot without screenshot. They're thinking this is the source of the mystery reboots. So well spotted bluejae.

discovered completely by accident...

and yes... you can do it without doing a screen shot...

Is this akin to the old 3-finger salute I have to give my 9330 every other day?

It is, but holding down the power button pretty much allows you the same options...ie; shutdown, reboot etc...

This one just does it without the prompt screens...

It was a good catch, bluejae. Didn't even occur to me to test myself.

i actually discovered it while playing with my poetic atmosphere case. i like the case a lot but the the side buttons are super hard to press down. yet the top button works just fine.

it wasn't until later i found that the top button has a thin piece of material (whatever the soft part of the phone is made out of) under the button. so when pressing on the case button, it helped to reach the phone's button more easily. but this part was not on the side buttons of the case. which meant that you would have to press a lot harder to get to the actual button on the phone.

so while trying to use a super secret method that i had come up with (stick a strip of paper between the case and the buttons), i noticed that my phone would reboot after i left it on the desk. after it started back up, it did it again. this led me to realize that the strip of paper was thick enough to hold the buttons down...

i actually contacted the company regarding this and was wondering if they were going to revise their case so it matches the top buttons functionality. they said they have no plans. but after discovering this reboot thing. i'm wondering if they knew this ahead of time and figured it might cause random reboot problems.

anyways. z10 is pretty awesome
