if you go into your address book and select the person you want to send teh text to, push the track wheel in, it should give you the option to sms, PIN, Call, Email, provided you have entered all those details under their name.

Actually, it doesn't give you the SMS option.
It gives you the MMS option for multimedia messaging. You can send one of these but the person might not receive it. With the Nextel Unlimited data plan, you get 100 MMS messages/month.

Since you have a BB, don't even mess with the MMS option if you don't have to. Send your text messages as emails. They go through fast as lightning and you won't go against anything provided you have the Unlimited Web Option under your plan. That's what I do...and I haven't had a problem. My MMS messages used to take 3 days or more.

If you send an email as a text as a opposed to a MMS will other carriers still be able to respond to you?

"With the Nextel Unlimited data plan, you get 100 MMS messages/month."

Unlimited plan with limits?

A true oxymoron if i ever read one.

good job nextel, promote that person who did that.

Unlimited data BB plan - not MMS. You can add unlimited for $14.99.

OMG thank you soooooo much! This helps a ton! I have been racking up charges like crazy! So, do I just add their number + plus @<hidden> to their email contact info?

I have a lot of adding to do!

Again, thanks!!! :D

Oh, one thing about the nextel, i found out you can also send to:

@<hidden>

a buddy here at work said that the difference between:

@<hidden> and @<hidden> is the messaging one sends a two-way premier message retrievable with a data plan or two-way premier plan, the page one is a standard text message, no frills, sent directly to the phone without using the web interface.

just an FYI.

***UPDATE*** I just confirmed that with a Nextel Rep. I decided to ensure the truth behind it before posting.

On the BB it doesn't matter. The 7520 can receive 2way and SMS but if you want the 7100 to reply it must be sent to the messaging address. You can't reply to SMS messages.
