I called T-Mobile and they said they are still testing the 8700, but they think it will be available in about 1 month from now.

I just tested to email to T-Mobile serice. Does they talk different. What do you think? I copy and paste from T-Mobile service link.

"Thank you for contacting T-Mobile. My name is Sue and I am pleased to assist you today.

I understand you would like to know if T-Mobile has plans for offering the Blackberry 8700 in the near future .I know how important it is to have the latest in cellular technology. I can definitely assist you with this issue today.

T-Mobile does not have plans for offering the Blackberry 8700 series at this time. We have however just released a new device, the T-Mobile MDA."

Ugh, who even knows, jibi's guy told jibi that it'll be late March. I can't believe TMO US_won't_ offer this BB if practically every other provider on the planet is offering it and there is already an 8700g for sale by TMO in the UK (yes yes, I know, different company and all that).

So at what point did we begin "believing" support people. Tmobile has people (granted, people that are afraid or other to unlock a cingular) beating down the door for this model. That comment above indicates they would no longer offer the BB product line over the new MDA (uggh).

Anyway.. grain of salt...

You're right Hyper. Clearly T-Mobile is not going to offer the 8700 since the script reader you got an e-mail from says so.

Sigh....

Why is TMO testing the 8700? You think someone should tell them people are sucessfully using them on their network? </shrug>

Every netowrk is different and isn't it a matter of not testing the product but rather waiting until Cingular's lockup is over?

Today I went to T-Mobile store in Seattle. I asked a man that will they get 8700. He said yes, will be avaiable in 1 month and 2 weeks.

Also I saw new MDA but I don't like it because it is too small than Sidekick 2.

And I would be it will be available earlier for corporate customers. Around 2 weeks earlier...

Time will tell.

My wild a** guess is TMO USA is waiting for the legal crap-ola to finally get settled.
And I use the word "settled" for obvious reasons.

Also IMO, a settlement is imminent.

Time will indeed tell.

This response is from a Sales Staff, they want to sell you what you have today, not what they might be short of tomorrow. Since allot of their sales are impulse buys, they want the sell now not a possibly sell in the future.

Hyper, just an FYI on where NJ and myself get our information.

1 - NJ's company has a rather large corporate account with T-Mobile
2 - Jibi's company has a rather large corporate account with T-Mobile (as well as one of the first PowerTel accounts ever established)
3 - NJ has a contact who is in charge of a department at T-Mobile that deals directly with the BlackBerry technology and the software/OS QA process

Rather than talking to or conversing through email with customer service that is outsourced from a third-world country, we are conversing directly with sales persons and technology management within the company.

And just FYI - T-Mobile has been testing the 8700 device for a long, LONG time. It is likely they are at the very end of their QA process for the OS mentioned above, or they have already completed the QA process and are simply waiting on marketing, billing and sales (the Cingular exclusivity period should be over by now).

TMO is the first company to "certify" RIM's workout. By certify I mean to say, announce that it works. What that means, who knows. Anyway, I guess another month is the wait. Anybody have ideas on pricing?

I mentioned this in another thread but let me add, I have seen TMO's 8700. It is working and being used in my town on T-Mobile's network and branded for T-Mobile. I am supposed to be getting one pre release in about 2 weeks. That would tell me end of March for release.

$299 w/ new activation/contract renewal, if I'm not mistaken... maybe it was $399, but I'm almost for certain it was $299.

If that pricing is correct, then that 7290 they're selling on the website for $299 is WAY overpriced! But ya, I don't expect to see the 8700g to be that outrageously priced. Cingular's website is selling the 8700c for $350 with a $50 mail in rebate. The TMO price will probably be in line with that.

Ugh. I hate rebates.

Refer to my post and this press release from above. Most likely, the software will be on there and activated should it become necessary.

I was at my local T-mobile and asked if they were coming out with the 8700 in March. The sale guy said that if they were he would know about it and they are not. This is a bit disappointing but he could be uninformed.

Comeon people. Quit asking the local store people about BB. The are the last to find out. Listen to us who have contacts with RIM and TMO in the corporate world. 8700 is coming out with TMO. Probably within the next 30 days.

Same thing happend when the 7100T came out. I had purchased 3 from my local store for me and my colleagues, and STILL, there were other stores that would tell me "no, it's not out yet - probably another month or so." Imagine the look on their face when I pulled my 7100 out of my pocket. Idiots.

A lot of them just say that it's not anytime soon in hopes that they can talk you into buying something else right then. One guy even tried to sell me on some other crappy phone that wasn't even CLOSE to a PDA. I was clearly interested in a blackberry. WTF?

Uninformed is not quite the word.

T-Mobile will be selling the 8700 starting the last week of March or first week of April. As with all other BlackBerrys they've sold, I am sure it will go to Corporate accounts first.

Stop asking kiosk and store people about it. They don't know.

Already got one on T-Mobile using my existing ORANGE SIM, bought it off another user on the forum, works excellent and looking forward to integrating it into the BES on Monday. (y)

Hyper, what we are saying is that you needn't worry about when T-Mobile will release the 8700. By this time next month, they will be available for customers to buy.

Well I know T-Mobile will get the 8700. I've been wanting one for months. My old 7230 finally got un-readable and I needed (must have) a new phone. I got the 8700c and paid for the unlock code.

Since I went to all this trouble and paid extra for the phone, I am sure T-Mobile will get the 8700 real soon.

I am eagerly awaiting for T-Mobile to get the 8700. I recently tried T-Mo's SDA and hated it! I did not really like the 7100 or the 7105. I like the 7290 but want that 8700! If T-Mo does not have it out soon I might get one from Cingular and have it unlocked. I'll give T-Mo a few more weeks. :)
