Text Messaging

Hey guys, I just got the 7100i today, awesome phone, I bought it brand new from my cousin for an unbeatable price. I currently don't have the internet/email service plan on it yet so I'm not experiencing the full package. However, I seem to not be able to recieve text messages as well? Anyone know if this is a known issue or not? As of right now till later on this weekend, I'll just be using it as a normal phone. Any help is appreciated.
