Hi there,

quick background info, we are running BES 4.0.2 Sp3 in a mixed Ex5.5/2003 environment. One of our Blackberry users has reported a problem with the senders display name displaying as someone else on the device but is fine within Outlook, anyone else seen this problem. User is 8700 with Handheld v4.1

have you tried wiping the handheld and re-registering on the BES server?

Not yet as I wanted to find the root cause of it. Wiping the device and reactivating solves a lot of issues but doesn't really give you any explanation

Oughtn't this be filed in the BES Administration thread?

Where is the senders name appearing wrong? On their handheld or on the receiver's handheld? Is it possible that the senders email address is stored in the address book under someone else's name?

The user with the problem is receiving the email on their device and it appears under a different name to that in Outlook. I will check the users address book as the incorrect name is one of their contacts

I was experiencing the exact same problem described here running two BES 4.0.2 Sp3 in a mixed Ex5.5/2003, user with 8700 BB having this silly problem.... wiping the device seemed such a heavy handed solution to a minor problem.

The user was performing all her email lookups and hadn't saved any addresses on the BB, so I advised her to add the address for the user that was displaying incorrectly. Since she done that, the mails are displaying as they should.... wierd!!!

It pretty much has to be an Address Book issue so I don't see why it would be a BES Admin issue...

Hi

We have had two incidents like this in our company, one on my 8707g, and one on my colleague's 8700. These are all on synced contacts, so adding items to our address books wasn't an options. The problem was corrected by wiping, but as previous posts have mentioned, that seems like unnecessarily strong medicine.

By the way, selecting "Show Address" results in a blank field, and replying replies to the erroneously displayed sender, not the original sender.

Anyone know if this issue has been address by RIM?
