Hi, I just got my 7130e and downloaded the desktop manager. I am trying to add a new application to my BB. I downloaded the application zip file, started my desktop manager, clicked add and navigated to where I downloaded the zip file and no alx file is showing. However, when I open the file where the zip was downloaded it is showing that it is there. What am I doing wrong???

You need to unzip the files. Hardly any application will access compressed files directly without being uncompressed to a folder.

Hi, thanks for your response. I guess I don't know how to un compress the file. when I double click on the file it says Windows cannot open this file.Windows needs to know what program created it.

what are the exact file names that you have in the folder?

Are you right clicking on the program and then selecting extract files? That should be the proper procedure.

Uncompressing can be as simple as dragging and dropping the .alx file onto your desktop or into the folder of your choice depending on what program you are using to open the zip file with. Give it a try, it will probably work.

Its an .alx file. It doesn't look like any zipped file I ever saw before. When I click on the program it dosen't open anything that offers the option to extract files.

is it inside a folder that is zipped? if so, then you need to unzip the folder first. otherwise, you should be able to load the file by the application manager.
