you cannot. Just highlight the icon that you want to disappear and hold alt and click trackwheel then select hide icon. If you need to find it in the future, press alt+trackwheel and deselect hide icons

I have a problem on this as well. I had Google Maps (old version), I downloaded the new version and overwrote the old one. I have two icons now and one loads the old version and the other, the new version. I checked my Applications list and it only shows the new Google Maps. What gives? Is there a simple way to get rid of this without hiding it? Thanks!

Go into the Applications list, click the wheel and select Modules.
Find the "old" Google Local Maps module and delete it.
Presto - old icon is gone. I had the same problem.

Right on! Thanks for the help! Now you know, and knowing is half the battle. LOL!

Thanks again!

I believe this question was asked by the original poster in March and answered then.
