i know that the price of it is not to expensive.. but i don't feel like paying 15 bucks a month for something that i won't use every single day. any way around it??

Don't think so. Verizon closed the dial-up modem loop for the 7250 and 7130 running EVDO.

What do you mean "closed". I do not have the $15 plan and though I do not do it on an ongoing basis I can still tether with my EVDO capable 7250, as a matter of fact I just went and tried it prior to posting this. I will be charged on a per/kb basis but I certainly can still do it.

Yes, that's correct. You can still do that. But Verizon will charge you for the data usage.
